This is good, and I can think of a lot more inconsistencies and goofy things that make English so unique. And I sometimes wonder if people who speak other languages ever have certain English words in their vocabulary. For example, we use certain French words such as rendezvous and lingerie, but I doubt if the French use any individual English words when they are speaking French.

Actually Becky you are completely wrong there. In fact these days you'll find that in almost any language you care to think of, if they haven't a word for something it will be the English word that they use. It really is interesting to go into Europe and listen to the radio. It's amazing how many English words you can pick out in advertizements or when a presentor is speaking.

Thank you for this too Bob. I hadn't seen it before but loved it.

That's interesting Dan, I hadn't realized that. Actually I should have though because we have a receptionist at work who is from Greece. I often hear her talking on the phone to some of her relatives who still prefer to talk in Greek even though they live here, and I do remember sometimes hearing English words in the middle of her Greek sentences.

I have great respect for anyone who learns English, this is coming from someone who has trouble clearing his throat in any different language <smile>.

Well, there's a crazy poem with loads of words difficult to pronounce. I don't want to put it up here and take the time to put line breaks after each line, so here's the link if someone's interested.

Blbobby, it also depends on if you like learning languages or if you don't, of course.

You are right, CuddlyGermanGirl, but there's something about a language that just doesn't like a Bob.
I think it's genetic, or the wrath of God. Anyway, as I've said before, I have much respect for people who can speak more than one language.
